Mediroyal's mallet splints are available in two different materials:
- Clear version, transparent, Polycarbonate which is very stable
- ABS version, skin-colored, ABS plastic which can be easily adjusted with scissors
Both models have a slight extension angle to keep the DIP joint stretched and immobilized to allow healing.
The splint has ventilation holes located both dorsally and volarly on the splint.
Both splints can be adjusted with a heat gun. The PIP joint should always be free, which may mean that the dorsal part of the splint may need to be shortened.
Available in 8 different sizes that fit most fingers.
The mallet splints are sold in single packs, but can be ordered in 10-Packs & in an assortment pack with one size of each.
NOTE! The straps that are attached to the splints are not included, they are sold separately - see below.
NRX® Strap Kit for Mallet splint
The splint can be secured by using a skin friendly non-elastic tape or with an NRX® Strap PLUS that can be attached with a self-adhesive hook that is positioned on the dorsal shell. The NRX® The self-adhesive hook is applied on the shell and the strap can be attached on that surface, and adjusted in length. The strap is non-elastic and provides a secure grip. NRX® Strap Kit is available in a 10-pack.
